Rachel Waterbury
Artistic Director, Choreographer & Teacher
Rachel has been the owner of Ampersand Academy since she help found the company in 2004, as R&B Dance. She has been dancing for over 25 years and has loved every minute of it. She has trained with instuctors from NYC, Boston, Philly, New Jersey, California and lots of great ones from all over Maine! Her most recent teachers were Geo Hubela (Hip Hop) and Gregg Russell (Tap)! Both masters of their own dance styles.
Her dance experience at the University Of Maine included being a founding member and captain of the UMaine Dance Team, dancing with the UMaine dance club, choreographing and performing on a Carnival Cruise ship, performing and choreographing for the annual dance concerts and graduating with a degree in dance! Rachel finished up her college career by earning the 2003 “Outstanding Senior Award” for her contribution to the University of Maine Performing Arts program.
Other dance experience includes, teaching at the boys & girls club, directing and teaching at the Augusta/Manchester YMCA, choreographing for high school and community musicals and teaching at a variety of summer camps and outreach programs.
